Brobdingnag series II for 2010
I have expanded on the original Brobdingnag dishes for greater variety, the range of sizes and functions is even better. We have dishes, serving platters and bowls of all different sizes from the Rather Humungous down to the Very Dinky. While every unique piece is functional, many can be wall mounted for decoration, or look great on a sideboard, dresser or table as a display piece. Sets of coasters available also.
These and many, many more are available at

Brobdingnag
The shattering of a functional object into useless pieces, and then changing the scale of those shards to create new functional objects was the aim here.
A simple alteration in scale can evoke unexpected reactions when viewing any piece of art. The difference between looking at a postcard of a painting and being confronted with the real thing on a gallery wall is always a surprise – detail becomes more obvious, texture becomes more intense, the sheer scale itself can sometimes overwhelm the senses.
Taking a simple, every day object – the kind of plate your granny keeps on her sideboard – and massively increasing the size changes how we view it. The mood changes from one of old-fashioned fussiness to that of exaggerated humour and contemporary style.
